I was in a reflective mood this morning and thought about 10 of the quotes that profoundly influenced the way I think, create and live.

[As you know, all it takes is a single idea in small paragraph to revolutionize the way you play out the rest of your life].

So—to inspire you (and move you to action on your boldest opportunities), I wanted to share them.
Here you go and I’ll be reading your comments at the end:

HOW DO YOU HANDLE ADVERSITY?


You may never look at a cup of coffee the same way again!

A young woman told her mother how difficult things were for her.

She did not know how she was going to make it and felt like giving up.
Her mother took her to the kitchen and filled three pots with water. Soon the water started boiling. In the first pot, she placed carrots. In the second, she put eggs. And in the third, she placed coffee beans. She let them sit and boil.
In about twenty minutes, she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them on a plate. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a mug.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "What do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," her daughter replied.

Her mother handed her some carrots. They were soft.

The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it.

After pulling off the shell, she observed that the egg was now hard boiled.

Then the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma.

Then the daughter asked, "What does all this mean?"

Her mother said that each of these had faced the same adversity -- boiling water. But each reacted differently.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with an open heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a break-up, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water -- the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water

gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level?

THE THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!


QUESTION: Are you going to HOLD BACK or are you going to GO ALL OUT?

QUESTION: Are you IN it or are you INTO it?
Suppose you're a student (because when it comes down to it we're all students), and you're not GOING ALL OUT in your classes. You're not really INTO it. Don't give up - start acting as if you're GOING ALL OUT. Start acting as if you're INTO it. You can do that. You can "fake it until you make it."

You don't have to feel like doing it, but the funny thing is that once you start doing
it . . . eventually you'll start feeling like it.

Do not focus on your feelings -- focus on your actions. When you start acting a certain way, your feelings will change.

ACTION changes ATTITUDES

MOTION changes EMOTIONS

MOVEMENT changes MOODS

Just remember this acronym: ACE

ACE = Action Changes Everything.

If you don't feel energized -- don't focus on your feeling. Don't wallow in your lack of energy - start acting energized.

This is not some "pop-psych" idea -- it's the way we're neurologically wired.

But you already do this . . .

Let's see what happens every morning . . . Do you wait until you feel like getting out of bed to get out of bed? If you're like most people, if you waited until you felt like getting out of bed, you'd still be in bed! What actually happens? You physically make yourself get out of bed and then eventually you feel like getting up. The ACTION not only precedes the feeling but actually produces the FEELING.

If you're not feeling happy and you want to start feeling happier . . .

START SMILING!!! People become happier once they start smiling.

The ACTION of smiling changes the way you feel. The ACTION not only precedes but actually produces the FEELING.

If feeling happier isn't enough and you want a shot of joy -- start skipping. It's almost impossible to feel sad when you're skipping. Don't deny it until you try it!!!

Don't Fear It, Chase It

Sometimes I have new athletes training with me and I see fear in their eyes.
FEAR against a heavier weight

FEAR against pushing into a pain zone

FEAR against the feeling of throwing up

Let me give you some advice:

Don't FEAR the pain, CHASE it

Go for broke when you train.

Unless you are truly busted up or have a serious limitation
stop fearing the Pain.

Once you begin chasing it, you stop feeling the pain

It becomes something you are numb to.

And.... NOT ironically, you will become more successful
in your life, in ALL areas.

I haven't given you a workout in a while, so try this one
on for a Monday.

Monday should be a day of battle for you

It starts the week off on the right note.

Here WE go, we're in this battle together:
** Warm up thoroughly First

1) Farmer Walk with Dumbbells 5 x 200ft.
2A) Handstand Push Ups 5 x Max Reps
2B) Rope Climb 5 x
3A) Squat Jumps 3 x 10
3B) Lunge Jumps 3 x 10
4A) Kettlebell Swings 4 x 10 reps
4B) Sprint x 100 Meters

Finish with some hard ab work

I'll be doing this today.

Let's rock this together

REMEMBER: Don't fear the pain, chase it and DOMINATE.
